One of the greatest benefits to Stand Up Paddle Board fishing is the ability to make a stealthy approach and increase your chances of having the opportunity to present the fish with something they may want to eat. Often times half the challenge is not spooking them while trying to get a cast to them. This is one of the reasons we use a push pole on the flats and in freshwater shallows where the depth and the consistency of the lake bottom allows. In addition the push pole allows for SUP control while standing on cooler for better viewing of fish. For more photos using the push pole in the Yucatan visit Yucatan on the fly
Our push pole of choice for performance, weight, and compatibility is the Stealth Stick from Cataract Oars. We like the 9 foot 4pc with one 4ft extension. This allows for more options depending depth and height of the paddler.
